Parador de Aiguablava

The volumetric intervention prioritizes an interpretation of the existing building’s architecture by removing secondary elements, restoring the purity of the original volumes. To achieve a more coherent overall composition, the building’s horizontality has been enhanced through the incorporation of pergolas and large openings in the longitudinal façades. The hotel’s main entrance remains on the southwest façade, but architectural barriers have been removed throughout the building to improve accessibility across the entire parador.

A key aspect of the intervention has been the reorganization of the layout, with the goal of strengthening the connection between interior and exterior spaces. The common areas, now enhanced with a solarium, terraces, and a seasonal pool, have been relocated to the ground floor, ensuring seamless access to the outdoors from all façades. Natural light plays a defining role in the project’s essence, particularly in the guestrooms. Each room features expansive glass windows that maximize daylight while offering spectacular panoramic views of the sea and Aiguablava. In the common areas, space is perceived as fluid and boundless—it's not confined within four walls but extends seamlessly between interior and exterior, embracing the Mediterranean landscape of this unique setting.
Inside, guests can discover more than 200 artworks by renowned artists such as Salvador Dalí, Rafael Durancamps, Antoni Clavé, Josep Maria Subirachs, Antoni Tàpies, and Joan Miró.
